Alaska Airlines Makes Record Boeing Order, Securing Fleet Growth Into the 2030s
Alaska Airlines has announced the largest aircraft order in its history, committing to 110 Boeing jets in a move that firmly secures its fleet expansion well into the next decade.
The landmark deal covers 105 Boeing 737-10 aircraft alongside five additional Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, with purchase rights for a further 35 737-10s. Deliveries are scheduled to continue through 2035, allowing Alaska to lock in valuable production slots at a time when new aircraft availability remains tight across the global aviation industry.
This order does not signal a shift in strategy. Alaska has already aligned itself with a Boeing-only fleet, positioned Seattle as its primary long-haul gateway, and steadily advanced its international ambitions. The new aircraft primarily reinforce this existing roadmap, enabling measured growth while replacing older 737 models to maintain efficiency and control operating costs.
The additional Dreamliners will underpin Alaska’s long-haul vision, supporting its objective of serving at least 12 international long-haul destinations from Seattle by 2030, building on routes already launched to both Europe and Asia.
Rather than pursuing rapid expansion, Alaska Airlines is opting for stability and foresight. By securing aircraft years in advance, the airline is signaling confidence in its current strategy—and ensuring it has the fleet in place to execute it without disruption.
